Two Warren nonprofits win $10K grant
WARREN — Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership and Gregg’s Gardens, two Warren nonprofits, have won one a $10,000 grant from consumer-products company Tom’s of Maine.
TNP, Gregg’s Gardens and the Trumbull 100 are working together to revitalize the residential central city of Warren, including the Garden District and the Historic Perkins Neighborhood. The Garden District and Perkins Neighborhood are just north of Courthouse Square. TNP was one of 15 organizations nationwide to receive a grant.
TNP and 50 other organizations representing each state competed in a monthlong contest that ended in mid-October to see which organization could receive the most votes on Facebook.
Matt Martin, the TNP executive director, and Dennis Blank of Gregg’s Gardens have identified two uses for the money — to continue to develop the Garden District by offering up to 100 households in the neighborhood a free planter, soil and plants for a display in front of their homes; and to offer free paint and design consultation to paint their homes in an eye-catching color scheme.
