First Night buttons

YOUNGSTOWN

First Night Youngstown is offering area nonprofit organizations the opportunity to earn money by selling First Night admission buttons.

First Night Youngstown is the premier New Year’s Eve event in downtown Youngstown. To be admitted into First Night entertainment venues during the New Year’s Eve event, attendees must purchase an admission button. Area nonprofit organizations may sell admission buttons and keep a portion of the proceeds. The more the organization sells, the more it earns.

Organizations may begin selling now through Dec. 21.

Man, woman shot

ALLIANCE

Police say a man called dispatchers at 6:11 p.m. Sunday, saying he had just shot his ex-wife.

Lee Toalston, 31, of Lisbon, gave his name and location, and said he had a gun and was going to kill himself. As officers arrived, Toalston pulled a handgun and shot himself in the head, according to The Vindicator’s broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV.

When officers arrived at Burt Avenue and College street, they found Holly Toalston, 28, of Alliance shot several times. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Lee Toalston had a single gunshot wound to the head.

Police believe he shot her in the driveway of her Burt Avenue home, then carried her to a parking lot at Burt and College Street where he shot her several more times before calling police and shooting himself. Alliance police and the Stark County Coroner’s office continue to investigate.
