Campbell man caught with gun in his car
CAMPBELL — Police stopped a 21-year-old Campbell man for driving through a red light, then arrested him after finding a handgun in his car.
At 2 a.m. today, police pulled over the driver — identified as Spiro Tsagaris, of Edward Lane — for the traffic violation, which occurred at the red light on Struthers-Liberty Road at Robinson Road.
Tsagaris then told police that he had a handgun in the car, but that it was not loaded.
Police found magazines for the gun on the floor right behind the driver's seat and on the rear seat behind the driver's seat.
Because of the easy accessibility of the magazines to the driver, Tsagaris was arrested for violating the city ordinance regarding improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
He was also cited for the traffic offense, and given a court date of Friday in Campbell Municipal Court.
