UPDATE | Woman stabbed at Sharon Regional hospital remains in critical condition, security increased

SHARON — The Sharon Regional Health System employee stabbed at work Sunday is listed in critical condition today in the trauma unit of Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Linda Clark, was flown by Lifeflight helicopter Sunday night to Allegheny General.

Sharon Regional says the stabbing is an isolated incident, but it has implemented increased security measures as an added precaution for the safety of its employees, patients and visitors.

These measures include an increase in the physical presence of security staff, additional use of electronic surveillance and screening techniques and the implementation of increased security procedures and protocols.

The health system will evaluate the options both on a short- and long-term basis related to its overall security plan for its main campus in Sharon, as well as its satellite facilities in Hermitage, Mercer, Neshannock, Brookfield and Hubbard.

“The entire Sharon Regional family continues to pray for a complete recovery for Ms. Clark as well as pray for the Clark family as they deal with this senseless tragedy,” John R. “Jack” Janoso, Jr., president and CEO, said in a statement this morning.
