Pa. off-duty officer faces charges

BRISTOL, Pa. (AP) — An off-duty police officer in the Philadelphia suburbs is facing charges for allegedly pointing a gun at his wife and a man she was with.

Bristol Township manager Bill McCauley says 61-year-old patrolman Theodore Thieroff has been suspended without pay. Thieroff denies having a gun with him during the Saturday evening confrontation, the Bucks County Courier Times reports.

Investigators say that Thieroff admitted to confronting the two because he thought they were having an affair. Thieroff is facing misdemeanor assault and other charges. He was released on $25,000 bond and told to have no contact with his wife and the man.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 20.
