Man arrested for domestic abuse and resisting arrest

YOUNGSTOWN — Police arrested an Imperial Street man late Sunday for hitting his father and running from a police office.

Police were called to a home in the 400 block of Imperial Street about 10 p.m. and when they arrived they saw a man standing across the street, reports said. As officers were talking to the resident, the man across the street, later identified as Brandon Larew, 19, walked to the front porch of the home.

Reports said an officer told him to get off the porch and he would be addressed in a moment, but Larew told police it was his house and he was not moving. After another warning, Larew was shot with an electronic stun gun, reports said.

The dart, however, did not work and Larew then charged the officer. The officer pushed Larew and he fell off the porch and fled into the woods.

The officer caught him after a short foot chase, reports said.

Larew was booked into the Mahoning County jail on the charges of resisting arrest and domestic violence. He is expected to be arraigned in Municipal Court Tuesday.
