East Side shooting

YOUNGSTOWN

A city man was taken to ValleyCare Northside Medical Center and transferred to St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot in the thigh on the East Side on Friday evening. Willis Warren Jr., 56, told police a man approached him at 9:35 p.m., saying Warren owed him money. Warren replied he was unemployed and didn’t have any money. Warren then fell to the ground and discovered he’d been shot. Warren said his sister was driving by, stopped to pick him up and took him to Northside. The victim could not identify the exact location where he was shot and did not know the name of the man who confronted him, but told police he could identify him if shown his photo, according to the police report. St. Elizabeth refused to release Warren’s condition because he is a crime victim.
