'Animals on Ice' coming to Jennings Center

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.

Jennings Environmental Education Center, 2951 Prospect Road, will host an “Animals of the Ice” event at 2 p.m. next Sunday.

The event will explore the surprising animals, including saber-tooth cats, mastodons and sloths, that walked the Earth in western Pennsylvania during the Pleistocene Epoch or ice age.

Dr. Russell Graham, professor of geosciences and director of the Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum at Pennsylvania State University, will present. Graham is a researcher, published author and teacher with a vast knowledge of vertebrate paleontology.

The program is free, and pre-registration is not required.

Jennings is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset for hiking and other environmentally related activities.
