Route 11 crash

LIBERTY

A 56-year-old Warren man was in critical condition after a two-vehicle Saturday morning crash on state Route 11, just south of Warren-Sharon Road. Richard Powers, who was driving a southbound car that rear-ended a minivan, was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. Charlene Heath-Lacava, 48, of Ashtabula, the minivan driver, and her three passengers were taken to ValleyCare Northside Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries after the 11 a.m. crash, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

After hitting the minivan, Powers’ car crossed the median and hit trees on the east side of the northbound lanes.

Preliminary investigation shows alcohol was a factor in the crash, the patrol said.

State troopers were assisted at the scene by Liberty and Vienna police, fire and ambulance crews.
