POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Oct. 28
Theft: An elderly Poland woman reported a credit card, an operator’s license, $187 and her wallet stolen while at a Center Road grocery store.
Oct. 30
Criminal damaging: A vehicle was damaged in the 2200 block of Coit Road.
Nov. 1
Identity theft: A Kennedy Road man noticed $881 worth of fraudulent activity to his debit-card account.
Nov. 2
Criminal damaging: A car in the 3100 block of Dobbins Road was found damaged.
Nov. 5
Burglary: To a residence in the 8300 block of Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road through a rear basement door. Nothing appeared to be missing, however.
BOARDMAN
Nov. 1
Breaking and entering: Someone broke a side window at R.T. Tire, 6999 Market St., though it was undetermined if anything had been stolen.
Auto theft: Police got a tip about a possibe stolen vehicle at the Southern Park Mall, where they charged 23-year-old Derrick J. Burnett of South Beverly Avenue, Austintown, with motor-vehicle theft. The owner never gave Burnett permission to take his 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, a report showed.
Assault: A Southern Boulevard woman told police a man placed her in a bear-hug position and refused to let her go while the accuser was at a South Avenue convenience store.
Arrest: Authorities responding to threats at a business in the 7600 block of South Avenue charged Jordan J. Black of Milliken Place, Northeast, Warren, with obstructing official business. The 26-year-old Black was a possible witness to the altercation but became uncooperative and refused to provide identification to police, hampering their investigation, a report said.
Theft/drugs: Brittany R. Haefke, 21, faced charges of theft as well as possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia after $322 worth of merchandise was stolen from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Haefke, of Quentin Drive, Youngstown, also had two needles she admitted had been for heroin use, and a suspected crack pipe, police said.
Theft: Artis L. Walton Jr., 54, of Garfield Avenue, Youngstown, was charged after a 9-volt battery was stolen from Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave.
Nov. 2
Citation: Police issued 72-year-old Robert T. Rowney of Ewing Road, Boardman, a citation after receiving information about a reckless driver near Market Street and saying he had two open, empty vodka bottles in his car.
Theft: Lisabeth G. Gump, 39, of Chapel Lane, Campbell, was charged, accused of stealing a necklace and other merchandise from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.
Arrest: Officers responded to a vehicular crash near U.S. Route 224 before charging James D. Blaylock, 27, of Berlin Station Road, Berlin Center, with failure to control a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle impaired.
Theft: Tara R. Tamburro, 19, of Stewart Street, Struthers, was charged with stealing a pair of sweat pants and a sweat shirt, each valued at $34, from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Doncaster Drive man reported having loaned his 2001 Lexus vehicle to a woman who failed to return the car on the agreed-upon date.
Theft: A woman stole various items from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 307 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Theft: Heriberto J. Gonzalez Jr., 24, of Trumbull Avenue, Campbell, is charged in the theft of a DVD and a book from Walmart.
Criminal mischief: A car in the 7400 block of Huntington Drive was struck with several eggs.
Harassment: An Appleridge Drive woman reported her former boyfriend sent and made the latest in a series of unwanted text messages and calls.
Harassment: A South Avenue health-care center reported getting a series of such calls.
Nov. 3
Domestic violence: Brianna N. Jennings, 24, was arrested at her Cook Avenue apartment and charged with the crime after her boyfriend alleged the Boardman woman had struck his face several times with a notebook and shoved the accuser, causing him to fall into a bathtub, during an argument about his refusal to sign a form.
Menacing: A Bonnie Place man told officers a caller threatened to kill him.
Burglary: Took place at an apartment in the 7000 block of West Boulevard, where a 37-inch flat-screen TV, a laptop computer, two pairs of tennis shoes and a box of cigars were stolen.
Theft: Poland Village police apprehended Jenna M. Nair, 26, of Hamilton Avenue, Poland, and turned her over to township authorities. Nair was wanted on a theft warrant, accused of stealing two packages of diapers from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Menacing: An Arden Boulevard woman said her former boyfriend pounded on her bedroom window, activating the alarm, before driving away.

Breaking and entering: Someone used a key to enter the garage to a Palestine Avenue business, then take a 1999 Ford F-350 pickup truck.
Theft: Two tires and rims were missing from a vehicle at a Boardman-Poland Road dealership.
Criminal damaging: Juveniles were thought to have torn shingles off the roofs of three dugouts in the 400 block of McClurg Road.
Harassment: A worker for a Boardman-Canfield Road electronics store reported a customer who was angered that one of his three cellphones had been turned off because of an overdue bill threatened to burn down a related retail store.
Theft: A woman stole two laptop computers and 11 packages of razors from Rite Aid Pharmacy, 307 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Menacing: A woman said her 14-year-old daughter was threatened with bodily harm while at a party at a Timothy Lane residence.
Theft: A Poland woman told police $250, a cellphone and a wallet were removed from her deceased mother’s room at a South Avenue health-care facility.
Criminal mischief: Three eggs were thrown at a garage door and siding to a home in the 7400 block of Huntington Drive.
Burglary: Two juveniles were seen running after reportedly entering a garage in the 6900 block of West Boulevard. Two screwdriver sets were missing.
Harassment: A West Boulevard man told officers such messages were left on his Facebook page, causing him to feel his reputation could be damaged.
Theft: A woman in her late 40s stole roughly $600 worth of groceries from Rulli Bros., 8025 South Ave.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 4800 block of Brookwood Road after someone smashed a sliding-glass door window.
Theft: Two Youngstown boys, 15, along with 26-year-old Jamika J. Dates of Parkwood Avenue, Youngstown, were charged with stealing a pair of children’s boots and $189 worth of other merchandise from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road. Dates, who also was wanted on an assault warrant, faced an additional charge of contributing to the unruliness of minors.

Stolen property: John R. Tinney, 23, of Pembrook Road, Youngstown, faced a felony receiving-stolen-property charge after having been pulled over near Market Street. Officers discovered in Tinney’s pocket a woman’s check card that she was unaware was missing, a report said.
Theft: A woman who left a township movie theater noticed $55 missing from her wallet.
Menacing: A New Middletown man said he was threatened when he picked up his stepson in the 1400 block of Turnberry Drive.
Theft/criminal damaging: Someone in the 4100 block of Market Street tossed a piece of asphalt through a car’s passenger-side window and took a $300 iPod device.
Theft/forgery: The owner of a Midwood Circle business who had ordered checks discovered one was forged and cashed for $500.
Auto theft: A 2000 Volvo vehicle was stolen in the 600 block of East Midlothian Boulevard.
Burglary: To a residence in the 7200 block of Trenholm Road via a front window, though it was unknown if anything was taken.
Arrest: Authorities on Glenwood Avenue took into custody, then booked 43-year-old Samuel L. Childs of Almyra Avenue, Youngstown. He was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Theft: Andrew D. Stanton, 24, of Glenwood Avenue, Boardman, was arrested at Boardman Area Court on a theft warrant. He was accused of deliberately trying to return several items to Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd., with an old receipt.
Menacing: A Glenwood Avenue man said another man threatened the accuser’s wife.
Theft: William E. Dorsey of Hillman Street, Youngstown, was charged. Dorsey, 25, was accused of stealing two $100 gold pieces of jewelry from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.
Robbery: Police arrested 18-year-old Alexis D. Howes of Park Avenue, New Castle, Pa., in Poland and charged her with robbery after four pairs of undergarments were stolen from T.J. Maxx, 717 Boardman-Poland Road. Howes also was accused of pushing a loss-prevention official to the ground, stabbing her several times near the eye with an object and fleeing.
Theft: Two knives were removed from a car in the 6900 block of Tippecanoe Road.
Nov. 6
Identity theft: A Shields Road woman reported a pain-management clinic called regarding a follow-up appointment, even though the woman had never visited the clinic.
Theft: A Columbiana man reported a $500 iPhone stolen while at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant.
Burglary: Someone used a spare key to unlock a rear door and enter a home in the 100 block of Clifton Drive. Items stolen included a Sony PlayStation 3 system and a torch.
