Fundraiser planned at Heritage Center

YOUNGSTOWN

The Youngstown Heritage Center is conducting its first fundraiser, “Night at the Races,” on Saturday at the Aut Mori Grotto Hall, 563 N. Belle Vista Ave., on the West Side.

Admission is $2. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the first race starts at 6 p.m. In addition to horse racing, there will be a bucket auction and a 50/50 raffle. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

There will be a small number of horses available to purchase for $8 during the event. Those who purchased horses in advance have the option of free admission to the event.

The Youngstown Heritage Center is at the former Our Lady of Hungary Church property, 545 N. Belle Vista. It will house ethnic and Youngstown history halls and additional facilities that will serve as an anchor for community activities. Electronics recycling event

WARREN

A Cords for Cancer Electronics Recycling Drive will be hosted from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Taylormaid LLC, 1227 Niles Road SE. The event will benefit the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center.

Participants will be able to recycle old electronics for free, including computer components (excluding monitors), networking and telecommunications equipment, home or cellphones, clocks, VCRs, DVD players, stereos, audio-visual equipment, small appliances, toasters, calculators, radios, camcorders, hair dryers, refrigerators, freezers, ovens, microwaves, washers, dryers and metal from Christmas trees.

There will be a cost from $1 to $15 for recycling computer monitors and televisions, depending on size.

Cycling planned on Warren Greenway

WARREN

A Bike the Warren Greenway ride is planned for noon Saturday. Representatives from Warren’s Bike to Work Committee will join guests for a bike ride of the Warren portion of the Western Reserve Greenway.

Participants will meet at the Warren G. Harding High School parking lot at Panther Drive and ride southeast through the city and back in under an hour.
