DEDICATION SERVICE

DEDICATION SERVICE

John Knox Presbyterian Church

Several longtime members shared their memories of church life during Sunday’s two-hour dedication service at the 96-year-old Market Street church, which has been sold to Community Corrections Association for $60,000. Fond recollections read aloud included:

Hosting annual Joy of Christmas celebrations that brought a large turnout.

Hosting a summer tutoring program that assisted students with reading and math.

Playing hide-and-seek in the basement.

Having yearly Halloween parties.

Volunteering to serve dinner at the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley.

Preparing large pots of soup for Needle’s Eye Christian Counsel.

Hosting many missions efforts, and being the home to the local Meals on Wheels program.

Having annual Christmas Eve candlelight services with a choir of more than 40 singers.

Preparing Lenten casserole dinners.

Sponsoring a kazoo band.
