Dr. Benjamin Carson, a world-renowned physician, professor and author deemed a “living legend” by the Library of Congress, will present the first Centofanti Symposium at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at Powers Auditorium, 260 W. Federal St. It is free and open to the public, but tickets are mandatory and available on a first-come, first-served basis Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Information and Personal Computer Lab, Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University. There is a limit of four tickets per person. For information, call the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services at 330-941-3320.
The symposium was established to bring outstanding speakers to the university and community, with the goal of raising consciousness about the challenges facing vulnerable groups in society.
Smithsonian exhibit at museum
YOUNGSTOWN
The Youngstown Historical Center of History and Labor, 151 W. Wood St., better known as the Steel Museum, is hosting the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street exhibit, Journey Stories, from Wednesday through Dec. 31. A public opening reception is planned for 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
