Wine and art will help pave park
Staff report
POLAND
Polish Youngstown has planned Wine & Art for the Park from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 7 to help pave Peterson Park with bricks.
Enhancing the affair will be the works of local artist Tom Antonishak, the music of Youngstown State University’s String Quartet, samplings of wine and beer from Vintage Estates, and vodka infusions created by Chef Tad Siembida in the renovated Wittenauer Gallery, 112 S. Main St.
Ticket prices are $40 per person and $30 for PY members. The ticket cost includes a commemorative glass, light refreshments and an entry into a door prize drawing.
To buy tickets for Wine & Art for the Park or to order memorial bricks, call Polish Youngstown at 330-333-9724 or go online to www.polish youngstown.org.
The evening’s proceeds will be used to complete the brick paving needed to make the park accessible to all who want to honor the history of the Veterans monument and the statue of Revolutionary War heroes Gen. Casimir Pulaski and Gen. Tadeusz Kosciuszko.
The lava rock that covers the park now makes it inaccessible to some veterans, seniors and the physically challenged.
The first phase of the project wrapped up in early October. TownOne Streetscapes welcomed the Polish veterans monument several years ago, and since then Polish Youngstown has been raising funds and sponsoring the brick campaign.
The second and third phases of the project are to be completed in spring and fall of 2014 if the fundraising goes as planned.
