Former Mayor Jay Williams, who is now deputy director of the U.S. Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, will be the keynote speaker at the 10 a.m. dedication todayof the Village at Arlington. The ribbon-cutting will be at the village’s community clubhouse, 516 Griffith St.
The 120-apartment village replaced the last remnants of the 1938-vintage Westlake Terrace housing project, which was one of the country’s oldest public-housing developments.
Don’t be alarmed
VIENNA
Members of the 910th Security Forces Squadron and Department of Defense security officers will be conducting weapons qualification from 6:30 p.m. until approximately 10 p.m. today at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station, 3976 King Graves Road.
Residents and passers-by in the vicinity of the air base should not be alarmed to hear weapons fire during this time. The weapons fire is a scheduled event and is necessary to maintain the mission readiness of the security personnel assigned to the 910th Airlift Wing, officials said.

Hubbard boil alert
HUBBARD
Due to a water-main break, Trumbull County water customers that live on Chestnut Ridge Road east of Hubbard Thomas Road in the township are advised to boil water used for consumption until further notice, according to a press release from the county sanitary engineer’s office.
Tour urban farm
YOUNGSTOWN
Iron Roots Urban Farm invites the community to tour the farm and meet the staff from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the farm grounds, 820 Canfield Road.
There will be a tasting table full of treats from Cabot Cheddar; hot apple cider, apples and doughnuts from White House Fruit Farm; and produce for sale from Iron Roots Urban Farm and from local urban growers.
The activities will include outdoor games, pumpkin decorating, children’s crafts, Iron Roots Urban Farm cooking demos and farm tours of the original historic structure on the site that now houses Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp.’s offices and newly constructed demonstration kitchen building.
There also will be a free raffle to give away prizes.
Admission is free. Parking will be available on Billingsgate Avenue.
Suspicious fire
WARREN
The Warren Fire Department has deemed suspicious a 10:37 a.m. Thursday fire at a vacant house at 855 Front St. SW.
The fire started in the rear of the house on the first floor but spread to the second floor, causing about $20,000 in damage, said Ken Nussle, Warren fire chief.
A neighbor reported seeing children playing behind the house earlier.
Free smoke detector
HOWLAND
The Howland Fire Department will give a free smoke detector to any Howland Township resident with proof of residency and matching identification. The giveaway will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at the main fire station, 169 Niles-Cortland Road.
