Ursuline baseball team headed for state

The Ursuline baseball team is going to state, Cardinal Mooney is not and Springfield Local will have to wait until Saturday to determine its fate.

Ursuline beat Orrville, 4-1, in a Division III regional final on Friday at Massillon Washington High School to clinch a berth in next week's state tourmament at Huntington Park in Columbus.

Cardinal Mooney was eliminated by Akron Hoban, 14-4, in a Division II regional final at The Ball Park at Hudson.

Springfield was leading Cuyahoga Heights, 6-3, in the bottom of the sixth inning in a Division IV regional final at Copley High School when play was stopped because of lightning. Then a downpour began and the game was eventually called the evening.

The game will pick up where it left off at noon on Saturday at Copley.
