TV stations, Time Warner seek contract

YOUNGSTOWN

Talks were continuing Thursday in hopes of reaching a contract that would keep three local television stations on Time Warner Cable.

The current contract between the LIN Media stations — WKBN (CBS), WYTV (ABC) and WYFX (Fox) — and Time Warner Cable expires at 5 p.m. today.

If a deal is not in place before then, the stations will not be available to Time Warner subscribers.

The stations are seeking an increase in the amount of money it receives from Time Warner to carry their signals.

Time Warner spokesman Mike Hogan said Thursday afternoon that talks were ongoing.

Last week, the stations began alerting viewers to the deadline.

They urged viewers to contact the cable company to express their desire for a contract agreement.

Information about the issue was posted on wkbn.com.

Time Warner described the stations’ demands too high, and directed its subscribers to twcconversations.com.
