Sadecky’s Puppets performed a show about anti-bullying, respecting yourself and others and standing up for yourself and your friends at Lloyd Elementary School May 3. The show, titled “New Friends,” tells the story of Kate, a young girl who has a friend, Brianna, who is not nice to the other children around her. A few of Brianna’s actions included stealing a bag of popcorn from a small child, making fun of how another child dressed, making jokes about a girl’s hair and more.

When Brianna starts asking Kate to help her bully the other students, Kate’s conscious, a peanut named Kenny, starts telling her that Brianna’s behavior is not acceptable. Kate worries that if she confronts Brianna, she will lose her best friend, but eventually her conscious wins her over, and Kate tells Brianna what she thinks about her behavior.

Sedecky’s Puppets was founded in 1981 by brothers Michael and Jay Sadecky. They have been a nonprofit organization since 1998, with the intent to educate elementary school children about different situations and lessons in life. Each of their shows contains unique puppets and a message that is age appropriate.
