Local fighters Jon Bullock, Soriano Clay and Ronnie Hamayel will headline Saturday’s 17-bout amateur card at St. Mary’s Assumption Center, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave.
Bullock, known as “JBeast,” is a Wichita, Kan., native who currently fights out of Downtown Gymnasium.
He will be the main attraction with Clay and Hamayel co-main attractions.
The all-amateur card, presented by Lights Out Management, will feature 13 fighters with local ties while seven Junior Olympic and one master’s pairing is also slated.
Bullock, a two-time Oklahoma/Kansas Golden Gloves runner-up and 2012 U.S. Golden Gloves quarterfinalist is the newest member of the Lights Out team.
He will take on Akron’s Jose Rodriguez in a 160 pound pairing.
“This is going to be my last local fight before I turn pro so I want to give the fans a win as I look toward the next level in my career,” Bullock said. “Jose and I have never fought, but we have sparred and he will be a tough opponent.”
Rodriguez, with over 100 amateur fights, is no stranger to the area having last fought in the Mahoning Valley on March 16.
He knows that Bullock will be a handful.
“I am looking forward to our fight because we both have plenty of ring experience and that is definitely a plus,” Rodriguez said.
The two co-features will pit Clay against Deron Chapel of Cleveland in a 178 pound battle with Hamayel taking on Dan Rosenberger of Niles in a true local pairing at 150 pounds.
