Warren police probe killing of family's cat

WARREN — Police are investigating a case of domestic violence that had deadly consequences for the family’s 3-month old cat.

A 31-year-old Ohio Avenue Northwest woman reported having an argument with her boyfriend at 5 a.m. Wednesday, at which time he threatened to “take care of” the woman’s 12-year-old daughter’s cat.

“After she thought he settled down, she took her daughter ... to school,” a Warren police report says.

“She then came home and found the 3-month-old cat dead lying in the grass in the side yard,” police said.

The woman said she found evidence that the boyfriend had beaten it against the girl’s bedroom walls before putting it in the yard.

The boyfriend apparently attempted to clean up the walls and ceiling, but there was still blood on the bed sheets, window frame and window screen, police said.

Charges had not been filed as of this morning.
