OSHP troopers seize heroin in Lorain County
VERMILION, Ohio — Two men from West Virginia face felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized two ounces of suspected heroin, worth $10,000, after a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike in Lorain County.
According to a patrol press release, troopers stopped a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt, with West Virginia registration, for a turn signal violation, on the turnpike in at 12:12 p.m. Tuesday. During interaction with the driver, troopers noticed marijuana residue on the floorboard and on the passenger’s clothes. A probable-cause search revealed the heroin inside the console of the vehicle.
The driver, James Jarrell, 26, of Charleston, W.Va., and passenger, Nicholas Hitchcock, 21, of Cross Lanes, W.Va., were taken to Lorain County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in heroin, both second-degree felonies.
