Mooney, Ursuline baseball teams advance

The Cardinal Mooney and Ursuline baseball teams are one victory from the state tournament in their respective divisions and Springfield Local could soon be joining them.

Cardinal Mooney defeated Canton South, 8-4, in a Division II regional semifinal today at The Ball Park at Hudson. Ursuline defeated LaGrange Keystone, 6-1, in a Division III regional semifinal at Massillon Washington High School.

Springfield Local has a 5-0 lead over Attica Seneca East in a Division IV regional semifinal at Copley High School.

Mooney (21-7) will meet Chardon NDCL or Akron Hoban in a regional final at 5 p.m. on Friday in Hudson. Ursuline (23-2) will meet Orrville or Wickliffe in a regional final at 5 p.m. Friday in Massillon.

The winner of the Springfield-Seneca East game will meet Cuyahoga Heights in a regional final at 5 p.m. Friday in Copley.
