Judge gives Ohio city OK to close troubled nightclub

HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) — A judge has given officials in a Dayton suburb clearance to shut down a troubled nightclub where two people were fatally shot earlier this month.

The Montgomery County judge on Tuesday granted a preliminary injunction sought by the city of Huber Heights against the Heat Nightclub. A hearing on a permanent injunction will happen later, and owner said she is going to appeal.

WDTN-TV reports that Huber Heights Police Chief Rob Schommer said it was a matter of listening to the many people in the community who want the club closed.

Huber Heights officials had been trying to close the club for at least a year before a fight spilled out of the building May 13 and a shootout left two people dead and one wounded.
