Butler man drowns today in Slippery Rock Creek


SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.

Pennsylvania State Police reported Mazzarney Kiyham Sanford, 22, of Butler, Pa., drowned at about 6:20 p.m.today in Slippery Rick Creek, about 300 yards below Kennedy Mills Bridge. He was swimming with friends.

Numerous people, along with his companions, tried to assist him. His body was recovered by emergency rescue personnel about an hour and a half later. He was transported to Jameson Hospital, New Castle, where he was pronounced dead.

Rescue personnel from New Castle Fire and Rescue, Slippery Rock Township Volunteer Fire Department Rescue, Scott Township Rescue, Noga Ambulance and Shenango Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted.
