The press box at The Rayen Stadium will be named for Edward W. Powers.

The Edward W. Powers Foundation donated $25,000 to the $3 million stadium project which was completed last year. Donations are still coming in.

Catherine Powers, Edward W. Powers’ great-niece, told city school board members at a meeting Tuesday that she was proud and honored that the foundation was able to make the donation. Her great-uncle was a graduate of the former Rayen School.

In other business, school board members also accepted the resignation of Karen Ingraham, the district’s communication director, effective Aug. 31. She cited personal reasons. Superintendent Connie Hathorn said he would post a job announcement to try to find a replacement.
