Laura Abernathy of West Lafayette, Ind., and 2nd Lt. Bradley Mullis of Poland exchanged wedding vows in an afternoon ceremony Dec. 28, 2012, at Sanibel Harbour in Fort Myers, Fla.

Her parents are Jon and Lee Abernathy of Noblesville, Ind., and his parents are Dr. Ron and Rachel Mullis of Poland.

Performing the ceremony was the Rev. Todd Ervin, the groom’s uncle, and Bill Stober. A reception followed at the Sanibel Harbour Resort.

After a wedding trip to Key West, Fla., the couple reside in Okinawa, Japan.

The bride’s white strapless A-line gown featured a sweetheart neckline, lace, crystals and a chapel train.

She is a graduate of Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

The groom, also a Purdue graduate, was in the NROTC program and earned a bachelor’s degree in forestry. He serves in the U.S. Marine Corps as an air intelligence officer at Marine Corps Air Base Futenma in Okinawa-shi, Okinawa. He is stationed in Japan for three years.
