Anthony Cafaro Sr. has been named one of the icons of the commercial real-estate industry by Real Estate Forum magazine.

For its May 2013 issue, the national publication selected two dozen leaders in the field, designating them as “Industry Icons.”

Cafaro, former president of the Cafaro Co., a real-estate development firm specializing in shopping centers and malls, retired in December 2009. Based in Youngstown, the company developed the Eastwood Mall complex in 1969. The company oversees more than 30 million square feet of commercial real estate in 11 states.

The Robert Carr Insurance Agency of Howland has received the Service Excellence Award from The Ohio Growth Association.

The award “recognizes the commitment to outstanding customer service in the service sector and the Carr family’s commitment to their clients is unsurpassed,” said Joe Fazek, executive director of the association.

A partnership among the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, Ohio Commerce Center, Routh Hurlbert Real Estate and MS Consultants received the Industrial Development of the Year Award from the Northern Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.

The group was recognized for its work in obtaining and managing a $2 million Ohio Job Ready Site Grant in 2012 that will pave the way for major development of the Ohio Commerce Center.

Jim Fahey has once again joined the Boardman-based accounting firm Hill, Barth and King.

Fahey, who previously worked at HBK as the information director from 2008 to 2011, will now work as a project director.

In his new position with HBK, Fahey will be responsible for helping with information technology initiatives, business growth plans, recruiting initiatives and staff development ventures.

LAW

Matthew M. Reis has joined Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell. His practice at the law firm will focus on civil and employment litigation, general corporate law and commercial law.

Reis joins HHM after working as a litigation attorney for more than four years in the Columbus and Cleveland areas.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the Farmer School of Business at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a Juris Doctorate from the Capital University Law School in Columbus. Reis is a native of Warren.

Trina DeNiro, Brian Byce and Marc McCutcheon have all joined Byce Auction & Realty as realtors.

DeNiro will specialize in accelerated real-estate sales, while promoting auctions. Byce is working toward his master’s in business administration and will focus on commercial real-estate sales and continuing the expansion of the company’s online auction division.

McCutcheon also will specialize in accelerated real-estate sales and the promotion of auctions.
