Wanted man runs from cops

GIRARD

Police say a man wanted on a warrant ran through several streets and yards and hid in a wooded area until he was coaxed out and had to be pepper-sprayed.

Officers were called to 107 Hazel Ave. just after 3:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of a domestic dispute in a driveway. Once there, a woman said that Jason Jablonski, 28, of Penny Lane Court in Austintown, had pushed her to the ground. Jablonski came to the front door and told officers he argued with the woman and she punched him, reports said.

Police ran a records check on Jablonski and found he was wanted on a warrant and when they tried to arrest him, he ran out of the house, reports said.

Reports said Jablonski ran through several backyards across several streets and also managed to climb several fences before he made it to North State Street, and then to a wooded area behind an old trucking company off of Ella Avenue.

A police dog from Liberty was called in to help look for him, and a perimeter was also set up before he was finally found in the woods. He still resisted efforts to be taken into custody until he was pepper sprayed, reports state.

He was arraigned in Girard Municipal Court on Friday on a charge of resisting arrest and on the warrant for receiving stolen property. He was in the Trumbull County Jail on $15,000 bond and is subject to house arrest should he manage to post bond. He has a preliminary hearing June 12.
