Youngstown man charged in screwdriver attack

YOUNGSTOWN

James B. Kennedy III, 24, with addresses on Willis and Marion avenues, was arraigned Friday in Youngstown Municipal Court on felonious-assault and aggravated-burglary charges after an incident on Willis late Thursday in which a 35-year-old man suffered stab wounds.

Police were called to Willis Avenue at 11:30 p.m. for a man bleeding. A 25-year-old woman said Kennedy, the father of her 1-year-old child, came to her home while the other man, 35, of Youngstown, was inside the home with her.

The woman said she’d not seen Kennedy since last December and told him to leave, but Kennedy broke in and stabbed the other man multiple times with a screwdriver.

The victim suffered a puncture wound to the head and shoulder and went to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment, police said.

Kennedy also bit the man on the finger, causing a cut, police said.

Police found Kennedy with a bloody shirt hiding in a garage on nearby West Chalmers Avenue.
