St. Joseph Immaculate Heart of Mary students celebrated science during a school-wide fun day May 17.

The fun day event is a cross-curricular field day that involves not only the entire student body, but also staff and volunteer parents.

This year’s theme was science and games. Games and activities were created using earth, life and physical science core standards.

Students had the opportunity to be a part of science in action through games such as Asteroid Attack, Molecular Motion and Mr. Bones, a puzzle relay that was made up of skeleton bones.

Each class wore fun day shirts of a specific color.

Students submitted designs for the T-shirt. This year’s winner of the T-shirt design contest was seventh-grade student, Brandon Freer.

Corporate sponsors for the event included En-Ser Reprographics, A Revolution in Nutrition by Antone’s, Papa John’s – Alaska, Specialty Pipe and Tube, Inc., Styka and Ohl, DDS, Inc., and Youngstown Propane, Inc.

All involved had a fun and educational day.
