The goal was to make American commercial and industrial buildings 20 percent more energy-efficient by 2020.

The Niles Kohl’s location was about to achieve a 20-percent reduction in annual energy use by replacing its rooftop heating and cooling unit, upgrading its lighting and recommissioning its energy-control systems.

Officials: Operation Swill found scheme

trenton, n.j.

At one bar, a mixture that included rubbing alcohol and caramel coloring was sold as scotch. In another, premium liquor bottles were refilled with water — sometimes not even clean water.

State officials provided those new details Thursday on raids they conducted a day earlier as part of a yearlong investigation dubbed Operation Swill.

Twenty-nine New Jersey bars and restaurants, including 13 TGI Fridays, were accused of substituting cheap booze — or worse — for the good stuff while charging premium prices.

Campbell to buy Plum Organics

new york

Campbell Soup said it’s buying Plum Organics, which makes food for babies and kids, for an undisclosed amount as it looks to move into faster-growing categories.

The company, which also makes Prego pasta sauces and Pepperidge Farm cookies, had been struggling to grow sales of its canned soups in recent years as people increasingly look for foods with a fresher feel.

To diversity its stable of products, Campbell also recently bought Bolthouse Farms, which makes premium juices, salad dressings and bagged carrots.
