JonesFest shifts its focus toward art and activities

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

JonesFest, the annual music event featuring jam band Jones for Revival and friends, will be this Saturday and Sunday at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park.

This year’s festival will focus more on arts and activities than music.

“We are bringing in five regional artists who will be hosting art workshops, creating live art installations throughout the park, and painting live during band performances,” said Jim DeCapua, JFR guitarist, in a news release.

Artists will include Justin Roberts, Kat Francis, Matthew Mayle, Celena Grossman and Tom Reed.

Jones For Revival will perform both nights. Other musical acts will include LethalFX, The Bees Trees, Hayden Calling (Akron), and Vibe & Direct (Cleveland).

Members of JFR will lead hand drum and guitar clinics over the weekend. Also on tap are yoga, body and face painting, a sand-castle contest, a beard contest, arts and crafts, plus Tribe of EOS Belly Dancers and Ohio Burn Unit.
