Medical conditions played role in lawyer's disappearance

Supporters say medical conditions may have contributed to last week’s disappearance of a Boardman attorney and Springfield School Board member.

Jon Schoenike was reported missing last week by his family. Sunday evening, he telephoned his wife and said he was in Wisconsin.

Schoenike has “severe and at times uncontrolled hypertension,” according to a statement released Tuesday.

Schoenike took his medicine Friday morning, but it didn’t seem to help, and he remembers little.

Doctors in Wisconsin performed tests and found that Schoenike had a prior minor stroke and also has a lesion on his spinal cord. “Do these medical findings relate to Jon’s disappearance? We do not know,” the statement says. More tests will be conducted.
