The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley is accepting monetary donations to its Disaster Relief Fund to help Oklahoma tornado victims.

People can donate money in several ways.

Go online to the Red Cross website, www.redcross.org, and click on “Donations.”

Text the word “disaster” to 90999, which will donate $10 for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

Drop off monetary donations only at the chapter headquarters, 661 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or mail a check or money order to American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, 661 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren, OH 44483.

Dispatching pact

WARREN

The Trumbull County commissioners are expected today to approve an agreement with the Weathersfield Township trustees to provide dispatching services to the township’s police and fire departments through the Trumbull County 911 center.

The agreement is for one year starting July 1, and calls for the township to pay the county $1,755 per month.

Trustees approved the agreement Thursday. Currently, the township receives dispatching services through the city of Niles.

The change is expected to save the township $30,000 annually.

Road closing set

Youngstown

Price Road between Glacier Heights and Irving Place will be closed to through traffic Thursday and Friday to allow for tree removal on Price Road by a Mill Creek Park forestry crew in and around the Lake Glacier Dam area.

Local traffic will be maintained outside the work area. A detour will be posted.

GOP group to meet

NILES

The Trumbull County Young Republicans will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Trumbull County Republican Party Headquarters in Eastwood Mall by Dillard’s.

Guest speaker will be Mayor Lyle Waddell of Newton Falls, who last month received the Thomas M. Humphries Public Service Award from the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber for making positive change in Newton Falls.
