The Humility of Mary Health Partners Mobile Intensive Care Unit, trauma services and emergency departments of St. Elizabeth Youngstown, St. Elizabeth Boardman and St. Joseph Warren health centers are having events to honor members of the local emergency medical services (EMS) community during EMS Week.

Events are: Friday, noon to 4 p.m., picnic, St. Joseph parking lot across from the emergency ambulance entrance, 667 Eastland Ave. SE, Warren; Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., picnic, St. Elizabeth Youngstown, Mobile ICU Building, 1215 Belmont Ave.; Thursday, 8 to 11 a.m., breakfast, St. Elizabeth Boardman, 8401 Market St.

Cancer event set

BOARDMAN

Man Up Mahoning Valley is sponsoring Fuel The Fight from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 9 at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., a car show and family fun day to help drive prostate cancer out of the Mahoning Valley.

The rain day is June 30.

Admission is free to the event, which will feature hundreds of cars with prizes awarded in six classes. Preregistration of cars is $15 each, and $20 the day of the show. Call Jon Sherman at 330-399-4500 for information.

A free two-year lease will be raffled off on a 2013 Ford Escape. Only 300 tickets will be sold at $100 each. To purchase raffle tickets, call Jonathon Fauvie at the HMHP Foundation at 330-729-1189.

There will be a live band, and O’Charley’s will provide the food.

Driving course

AUSTINTOWN

Shepherd of the Valley facilities are offering the AAA Safe Driving for Mature Operators Course for drivers 60 and over this summer.

The course can qualify attendees for auto insurance discounts.

The course is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day with an hour for lunch. Lunch is available each day for a cost of $6 or participants may take advantage of the numerous dining locations nearby.

Registration is required. The cost is $10 for AAA members and $15 for nonmembers.

A state-certified AAA instructor will present through interactive classroom-based instruction information on vision, adjusting speed, road rage, drowsy driving, prescription medications and driving emergencies.

Nursing pass rate

SHARON, PA.

Sharon Regional Health System’s School of Nursing Class of 2012 NCLEX-RN pass rate to date is 100 percent.

All 15 class members who have taken the NCLEX-RN, the licensing exam that graduate nursing students take to practice as a registered nurse, have passed.

The national pass rate in 2012 was 91 percent for diploma programs such as Sharon Regional’s.
