Rabies safeguards

There are several steps homeowners can take to minimize exposure to themselves and their pets from rabid raccoons.

Do not feed or touch wild animals and be careful of stray cats and dogs.

Be sure your child tells you if an animal bites or scratches them and make sure they know to stay away from wild animals.

Make sure your pets have their rabies shots.

Keep trash secure.

Do not leave pet food outdoors.

Report any bites to the health department immediately.
