The Boardman library showcased its programs and librarians April 20 through an event that offered sample story times throughout the day and several chances for patrons to ask librarians questions to stump them and win a prize.
Some of the questions asked of librarians were “What was the name of the very first book brought to the library?” “How many books are there in the library?” and “What is the rarest thing in the world?”
“We wanted to do this event to promote our programs that happen year-long and also to really promote our summer reading program,” said Boardman librarian John Yingling. “It’s great to see people taking advantage of all the information we have out, such as the pamphlets on our programs and summer reading, which they might not see normally.”
The mini story times were also popular. Some of the stories read included “There Is a Bird on Your Head” by Mo Willems, “Bark, George” by Jules Feiffer, “I Took My Frog to the Library” by Eric A. Kimmel, and “Falling for Rapunzel” by Leah Wilcox. Different crafts were set up in the library for children to make as well.
