Guilty plea for Ohio man for Obama Twitter threat

COLUMBUS (AP) — A Columbus man has pleaded guilty to threatening President Barack Obama on Twitter and now faces up to five years in prison.

A complaint filed by the U.S. Secret Service in federal court in Columbus said threatening tweets by Daniel Temple from March included the president’s name and phrases such as “coming to kill you” and “killing you soon.”

The U.S. Attorney’s office said today that when interviewed by a Secret Service agent, Temple admitted to posting the threatening messages because of frustration with the current political climate.

Temple, who entered his plea today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Norah McCann King, could be sentenced to five years in prison and pay a $250,000 fine.

A sentencing date has not been scheduled.
