Rabies vaccine clinic planned Saturday at Berlin fire station
BERLIN CENTER
Mahoning County District Board of Health is offering a rabies vaccination clinic, in partnership with veterinarian Dr. Lisa Kurtz and East Park Veterinary Clinic in Columbiana, for dogs, cats, and ferrets from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Berlin Township Fire Station, 15801 W. Akron-Canfield Road.
No appointment is needed. The cost is $6 per shot. Pet owners must have their pets on a leash, in a cage, or inside a pillowcase. Rabies vaccination for all dogs, cats, and ferrets more than 3 months old is required in Mahoning County.
Individuals can help protect themselves and their families from rabies by vaccinating all dogs, cats and ferrets, avoiding contact with wildlife and stray animals, washing bite areas thoroughly, and following up with a doctor, said Patricia Sweeney, county health commissioner.
