Details set for annual Sustainable Energy Forum

The fifth annual Sustainable Energy Forum, featuring more than 200 academicians, energy-industry leaders, government officials and entrepreneurs, will take place June 3 and 4 at Youngstown State University.

The forum includes presentations and panel discussions on topics ranging from the responsible use of water in industry and using natural gas as a vehicle fuel to the economic impact of shale development and advances in sustainable biojet fuel.

The event also includes an Energy Expo featuring displays of products and technologies by energy industry innovators.

The forum in Kilcawley Center focuses on sustainable and clean- energy technologies that are being successfully implemented within the region, natural gas and water resources and the impact that additive manufacturing will have on energy and energy technology.

Conference speakers will include Ed Morris, director of the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute; Matthew Moran, manager of energy and materials at NASA Glenn Research Center; Craig Blue, director of the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory; Dave Mrowinski, program manager for IGS Energy CNG Services; Ohio State Rep. Sean O’Brien; Kelly Visconti, technology manager, Advanced Manufacturing Office, U.S. Department of Energy; Cynthia Powell, director, Office of Research and Development, National Energy Technology Laboratory; and many others.

A panel discussion on “The Responsible Use of Water in Industry” will include Steve McKnight, of Fourth Economy Consulting; Sam Johnson, director of Water Asset Development for CONSOL Energy; Doug Wyatt of the National Energy Technology Laboratory; and Jack Adams and Leo Zappa of Calgon Carbon.

In addition, the MINDDRIVE Vehicle, a Kansas City-based after- school program designing electric vehicles, will have a display.
