David Kauffman, nationally known contemporary Christian composer and singer, will perform a concert, “A Hand to Hold,” at 7 p.m. May 22 at Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Road.

Kauffman, a native of San Antonio, Texas, advanced to the national Christian music scene in 1989 when his song “Come and See” was chosen as the theme song for the National Catholic Youth Conference. Kauffman, with arranger William Gokelman, wrote the musical “Moses and The Burning Within.”

The concert will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Musicians from the Church of Notre Dame will join Kauffman in singing two of his compositions.

Cost is $10 for adults and $6 for senior citizens older than 60 and students.

Villa Maria Spirituality and Education Center will continue Coffee & Contemplation, its monthly series of morning seminars, with “Devotions in May and Everyday” from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Groening lecture

A lecture on the teachings of Bruno Groening, a German healer and teacher, is planned at 7 p.m. May 20 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 S. Broad St.

The session is taking place at, but is not affiliated with, the church. Circle for Spiritual Aid to Life will sponsor the free, 90-minute lecture.

Organ concert

Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St., will host a celebratory organ concert at 3 p.m. May 19 to mark 50 years of service by the current organ. Florence Simons, who played for the initial dedication, will be joined by Frank Behne, organ; Bill Hurlbert, piano; Diane Stevens, violin; and Phyllis Flemming accompanying the choir.

Nicholas Bowden, principal organist at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, will be featured in a concert at 6 p.m. next Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE. The concert is free. Sponsors are Pellegrino Music Center, Allen Organ Co. and the church.

Choir anniversary

The Gospel Choir of Phillips Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 1407 Victor Ave., will celebrate its anniversary at 4 p.m. May 19. Male choruses, adult choirs, soloists, praise dancers and mimes of other churches are invited to perform.

Youngstown Chapter of Igniting New Life Ministries, an interdenominational ministry, will meet May 20 at the Stambaugh Room in the large cabin behind Georgeanna Parker cabin in Boardman Park, Route 224. Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the ministry at 7. Pastor Mike Guarnieri, founder of The Father’s House Church in Norton, Ohio, will speak.
