The two top administrative positions at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of ValleyCare Health System of Ohio, have been filled.

ValleyCare announced Monday that John Walsh is TMH’s new chief executive officer and that Jay de los Reyes became the hospital’s new chief operating officer effective April 1.

“These two individuals bring strong leadership to Trumbull Memorial Hospital,” said Kirk Ray, CEO of ValleyCare Health System of Ohio. “John and Jay come with new energy and perspective that I believe will help solidify a positive culture for the hospital both internally and in the community.”

Walsh was named interim CEO in March replacing Robert E. Wolleben, who left the position March 15. On the same date, Cynthia Lewis, TMH chief nursing officer, left the hospital.

Before becoming interim CEO, Walsh was COO at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.; CEO for Regency Hospital Co.’s Long Term Care Hospital in Toledo for four years, and vice president of operations for Northlake Medical Center in Atlanta, Ga., from 2001 to 2006.

Walsh received his master’s degree in business administration from Kennesaw State University, Ga., and a bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy from Georgia State University. He is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served on numerous boards.

De los Reyes has worked the past two years as COO at HealthSouth Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital, Sunrise, Fla. Before joining HealthSouth, he lived in Charlotte, N.C., where he managed the cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery practices at the Sanger Heart and Vascular Institute, a multispecialty, cardiovascular group practice of more than 110 physicians, owned by the Carolinas Healthcare System.

De los Reyes earned a master’s degree in health administration and business administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Birmingham-Southern College.
