Kasich to attend Exterran grand opening

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Gov. John Kasich will visit Youngstown today when Exterran has a grand- opening ceremony for its 65,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on Salt Springs Road.

Kasich will join company officials expected to be on hand from Houston, where Exterran is based. Other state and public officials are expected to attend the event as well.

Exterran, which will manufacture equipment to treat and process oil and natural gas at its facility in Youngstown, first announced it would build the $13.2 million facility in 2010.

Production already is underway there, where about 80 people are employed. The company employs thousands across the world with other operations that include oil and natural-gas transportation and storage. Exterran’s presence in the Mahoning Valley has been hailed as evidence of the region’s growing oil and gas industry.

The press will interview company officials and tour the facility.
