Leadership Mahoning Valley offers applications

YOUNGSTOWN

Applications for the Leadership Mahoning Valley class of 2013-2014 are now available and may be submitted through May 1.

The program was created to identify individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who demonstrate leadership talent and community commitment. LMV provides adult community leaders with an overview of the Mahoning Valley, an opportunity for increased understanding of key community issues and the potential to develop effective working relationships with other civic leaders.

Participants complete a 10-month program, which includes an opening retreat in the fall and eight monthly all-day sessions that focus on major community systems such as education, health, human services, government, justice, labor, business, poverty and the quality of life. A graduation dinner concludes each class year. All sessions provide the opportunity for the class to share relevant learning experiences and to interact with leaders from sectors of the community outside their own.

A selection committee composed of LMV alumni will review all applications received by deadline and will choose up to 40 participants for the 2013-2014 class.

Selection criteria include recognized leadership ability in the applicant’s field and a demonstrated commitment to community service. Candidates may request applications directly or be nominated to apply by their employer, a program graduate or others.

Every effort is made to attract applicants who will ensure a class that reflects the diversity of this area’s occupations, its racial, religious and ethnic groups, as well as a balanced demographic and geographic mix.

The tuition fee of $2,000 covers all program costs, including retreat accommodations and program meals. Selected applicants will be billed for tuition. Applications should be requested by e-mail at lmv@leadershipmv.org or call 330-744-2131, ext. 41. The Leadership Mahoning Valley office is located on the 15th floor of the First National Bank Building, 11 Federal Plaza Central.
