Cleveland-based Cohen & Co., a regional accounting firm, has once again been named to Accounting Today’s list of the top-100 accounting firms in the country. The firm moved up two spots from last year’s ranking, claiming 75th nationwide. Accounting Today is considered among one of the premier news vehicles for the tax and accounting community.

John Smith has been named March Employee of the Month by Shepherd of the Valley Poland. Smith has worked as the maintenance department supervisor since 2006. Shepherd of the Valley is a nonprofit corporation that provides assisted living services.

The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a U.S. Department of Defense operational committee, has announced that 108 Ohio Guard and Reserve members were nominated by their employers for the 2013 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The award is the Department of Defense’s highest recognition for employers supporting employees. Up to 15 award recipients will be announced this summer in Washington, D.C.

Huntington National Bank in the Mahoning Valley has hired Jonah Karzmer as commercial insurance sales executive. Karzmer will oversee the development of corporate insurance customers throughout the region. Before Huntington, Karzmer owned his own Farmers Insurance Agency in Boardman. He is a graduate of Youngstown State University. He is the author of a Sunday golf column published by The Vindicator during the summer.

Huntington National Bank in the Mahoning Valley has hired Amanda R. Frost as vice president, treasury management sales adviser. She will identify treasury management sales opportunities for existing and potential customers. Before Huntington, Frost served as vice president, business relationship specialist at First Place Bank. She is a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College and is active in the community.

HBKS Wealth Advisors, of accounting firm Hill, Barth and King, has hired Kelcie Witmer and Zachary Allegretti. Witmer, a graduate of Youngstown State University, will join the firm’s Boardman office. She has four years of accounting experience. Allegretti, a Penn State University graduate, will join the firm’s Pittsburgh office. He has experience in the insurance and financial advisory fields.

Drake Manufacturing of Warren has hired Kenneth Lonsberry as vice president of operations. Lonsberry will be responsible for managing and driving improvements in engineering and materials management at the precision machine tool builder. He has 30 years of industry experience.
