A memorial scholarship fund has been established in honor of a 14-year-old Struthers boy who was killed in January.

Sandra Baker, a scholarship coordinator with Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio, said there is a memorial scholarship fund for Theodore “Teddy” A. Foltz.

According to a press release from Community Foundation, the scholarship is for high school seniors moving on to college and also will support agencies that protect children from abuse.

The press release said donations can be made at a benefit dinner scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. April 21 at Hubbard First Methodist Church on Church Street in Hubbard. Teddy had lived in Hubbard before moving to Struthers.

Donations also can be made in Teddy’s name to the Trumbull Community Foundation/Teddy Foltz Fund and mailed to 7 W. State St, Suite 301, Sharon, PA 16146.

Teddy died Jan. 26 in St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio. His mother’s former boyfriend has been indicted on a murder charge in the death. His mother has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

“This charitable fund is being set up to honor Teddy and the wonderful giving, loving spirit he shared with everyone who knew him or was around him,” the release from the community foundation said.
