The Rotary Club of Boardman sponsored the first weekend of its 31st annual Pancake Breakfast March 16-17 in the Community Center at Boardman Park.
The event was co-chaired by Sarah Marino and Mason Shattuck and offered all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice.
“The proceeds from the breakfast are put right back into the community. Last year, the breakfast raised $15,000. Local groups can request funds and we vote on it as a club. We focus on Boardman organizations, such as Boardman baseball and the dictionary project at Boardman elementary schools, but we also support Salvation Army and Easter Seals,” Marino said.
Members of the organization were hard at work in many aspects of the breakfast, including cooking the pancakes, serving attendees and bussing tables.
Students from the Boardman High School Interact Club, a service club for young people which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Boardman, were also on hand to help with the breakfast.
“The Interact Club students help us with our fundraisers and we donate money back to them to fund their projects,” Marino said.
Members of the Alpha Phi Delta fraternity at Youngstown State University also volunteered at the breakfast.
The organization received donations from local businesses, including American Business Center, Boak & Sons, Chick-fil-A, Komar Plumbing Company, Valley Industrial Trucks, Reach Magazine, Cailor Fleming Insurance, Sam’s Club, DiRusso’s Italian Sausage, Austintown Dairy, First Place Bank, Huntington Bank, Gem-Young Insurance and Financial Services, Cumulus, Kensington Golf Club, Park Place Printing, Taylor Kia of Boardman, Centers for Hearing Care, American Beauty Landscaping, Fastsigns, Stifel Investment Services, World Market Design, Jay’s Famous Hot Dogs, Burgan Real Estate, Bisconti Orthodontics, Farmers National Bank, Window World, M&M Consultants, Gregg Riddle Insurance, Attorney Robyn Gallitto of Sicilinao and Gallitto, Lee Monit Nationwide Insurance Agency and Linda and Joe Vivacqua.
“It is because our community supports us that we are able to give back. We would like to thank the community for their years of support,” Marino said.
