Weathersfield gets federal fire department grant

MINERAL RIDGE

Weathersfield Township Fire Department has been awarded a $42,750 grant for operations and safety, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown announced Thursday.

The grant comes from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.

“These funds ensure that firefighters in Mineral Ridge have the resources they need to perform their jobs safely.”

The grant program helps firefighters and other first responders purchase protective equipment, vehicles and gear.
