A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard:

LIBERTY

March 20

Arson: A Scott Lane woman reported someone had set fire to her 2000 Oldsmobile vehicle, destroying its interior. Also, a motorcycle next to the car reportedly was found with a substance having been poured on it and a match nearby.

Damage: Someone drove through and caused about $500 in damage to a front yard in the 1900 block of Pleasant Valley Road.

Arrest: Boardman police handed Latisha Henderson of 3620 Southern Blvd., Boardman, to township authorities. Henderson, 21, was wanted on an outstanding township warrant.

March 21

Theft: Police responded to a shoplifting situation at Dollar General in the Liberty Plaza where they took into custody 40-year-old Keith Mitchell on a Trumbull County warrant. A theft charge was pending against Mitchell, of 2244 Goleta Ave., Youngstown.

Overdose: Police and Liberty emergency medical service personnel were sent to a Twin Oaks Drive residence regarding a possible drug overdose. A woman was found semiconscious with an empty pill bottle on a nearby table, then was sent to a hospital for treatment, a report showed.

Theft: A traffic stop near Laurel and Belmont avenues resulted in the arrest of 41-year-old Joseph A. Smith, 1145 Greenville Road, Cortland, who faced misdemeanor charges of theft and possession of criminal tools as well as a felony drug-possession count. Authorities found a stolen Wii game system, a wire cutter used to cut a cord holding the Wii console and a Suboxone tablet in Smith’s wallet, a report said.

March 22

Drugs: A traffic stop on Liberty Street led to 32-year-old Scott Haynes’ arrest on charges of drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Medina man admitted having a small amount of suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana pipe, police said.

March 23

Bad check: Officers responded to a Belmont Avenue bank regarding a counterfeit check, then charged 31-year-old Quinn J. Wilson, 337 W. Earle Ave., Youngstown, with passing bad checks and forgery, both felonies, and drug abuse, a misdemeanor. Wilson, who police said had a small quantity of suspected marijuana, passed a $1,986 phony check with a forged signature that a temporary employment agency supposedly had issued, a report said.

Domestic violence: Michael J. Fusillo, 41, of 1889 Keefer Road, Girard, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged Fusillo had pushed her down a flight of basement steps. The accuser suffered extensive injuries, including a swollen left shoulder, authorities said.

Arrest: Police in the 4000 block of Logangate Road recognized a man wanted on a warrant before taking 30-year-old Joel F. Lopez Jr., 4000 Logangate Road, Liberty, into custody. Lopez was charged with obstructing official business when, officers said, he provided a false first name on several occasions.

March 24

Arrest: Authorities responded to a vehicular accident near Shannon and Tibbetts-Wick roads before issuing a citation charging Andrew R. Holko, 20, of 972 Patricia Drive, Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired.

GIRARD

March 23

Trespassing: Officers responded to an intoxicated person walking near State Street, then arrested Kristopher R. Stimak, 524 Indiana Ave., McDonald. Stimak was wanted on warrants accusing him of failing to appear in court on charges of criminal trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Menacing: A Church Hill-Hubbard Road woman said a neighbor threatened to punch her.

Criminal mischief: Someone likely used a rock to break a front window and do $500 in damage to a Gary Avenue residence.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Church Hill-Hubbard Road woman said a man borrowed but failed to return her 2002 Oldsmobile Alero.

Theft: A woman stole a bottle of soda and a can of tea from a Shell gas station, 420 S. State St.

March 24

Harassment: A Cheyenne Drive woman reported having received such calls and email messages while at work.

Domestic violence: An off-duty police officer reported having seen a man choking a woman in a hallway at an Elruth Court apartment building before 44-year-old Robert S. Dezee, 100 Elruth Court, Girard, faced charges of domestic violence and resisting arrest. Dezee also struggled with officers, a report showed.

Assault: A man reported having been attacked while at a business in the 20 block of West Wilson Avenue.

Aggravated menacing: Lawrence A. Molek, 45, of 248 E. Liberty St., Girard, faced an aggravated- menacing charge after his brother alleged that during an argument in a vehicle about money, Molek removed a knife from his jacket and threatened to stab the accuser.

March 25

Criminal mischief: Someone in the 200 block of East Broadway Avenue covered a vehicle with bologna, eggs and mustard.

Theft: An estimated $15,000 worth of brass and copper fittings was removed from a cabinet at a business in the 1100 block of North State Street.

Arrest: Officers on South State Street pulled over Alberto Gonzalez, 27, of 88 Fatima Drive, Campbell. Gonzalez was wanted on a warrant from that city.
