Oakland raising funds for performance space
YOUNGSTOWN
The Oakland Center for the Arts, 220 W. Boardman St., downtown, is raising money to create a new, intimate performance space for music, poetry, film screenings, exhibitions and other events, to be called The Living Room.
The space, in the same building as the Oakland’s theater, will have a modern-1950s decor. Preliminary work has begun on the space.
An indiegogo.com funding campaign is under way, with a goal of $2,200. Most of the furnishings will come from Grey Land Curiosities, downtown.
The Oakland also has partnered with 90.7-FM The Summit to bring in concerts and musical events to The Living Room.
